We left early Tuesday morning, around 7 am (side note: Australian time is much different from the American time I'm used to. It's much more akin to Viktor's Russian time. "7 am" actually means "give or take half an hour..."). We drove all morning, stopping in time for morning tea (translation: snack time). When we arrived in Gin Gin, we stopped at the church we would be sleeping in (YEA!!!), then went on to the primary school at Mount Perry.
Our first show was a lot of fun! The puppets were a hit, as one would expect!
Now, we left the school thinking we were heading back to the church to unload and get ready for supper. Little did we know, we were taking a detour....
This tunnel, we were told, was full of bats. Yes, bats. Nikolas thought it was really cool, because we were going to the "bat cave." Ummm.....YIKES!
Yes, those are bats in the picture. I was FREAKING OUT!! This isn't even a good indication of the number of bats in the cave. They were literally flying all around us. When somone would flash a camera, you could see them inches in front of your face and all around you. The worst part was, once we went through we had to turn around and walk all the way back! Viktor got nailed in the face by a bat, almost knocking off his glasses. I had one run into my hand and I dropped my camera, which made the battery fall out. It was fun looking for that. All I could think was, "Run, Forest, run!!"
We finally made it back to the van, only to see a gigantic spider in the tree next to where we were parked:
Nikolas was so excited: Where else could get bitten by a bat AND a spider
and become two superheroes in one day?!
