Sunshine Coast.....here we come!!

So, Saturday we loaded up the "coaster" and traveled to the Sunshine Coast. We started the day at Underwater World, then made our way back to Redcliffe via several amazing beaches.

Viktor couldn't stop making jokes about the stingrays. Some of the Aussie's appreciated it....some did not.

We stopped at 3 beaches on the way back. The first, at Caloundra, was beautiful. We stopped there for a picnic lunch, and everyone played on the beach for a while. Some (Nikolas) even decided to go for a swim. Did I mention it's winter here?!

The next beach, Shelly Beach, was unlike anything I've ever seen. It wasn't your typical "beach" but was more like something you'd expect to see in an advertisement to visit Wales or Ireland, or parts of England. It was truly amazing...how does one see such beauty and question the existence of God? The combination of serenity and awe was a little overwhelming.

Finally, we went to King's Beach. This one was the most popular public beach on the Sunshine Coast, so we were told. It was much like Florida beaches, though there was still something different that I couldn't quite put my finger on. Maybe it was the underwater fences a few hundred meters out that are intended to keep out sharks and other unwanted visitors....

Saturday was a glorious day!

  1. Lovely family!! Oh, how I cannot wait to go back to Australia. Chris's sister's family is in Perth for a few years.

Great start to your blog. I have found that it helps ME remember my own memories as well as keep in touch with my far-away family.
